My name is Daisy Heyes and I’m an illustrator, zine maker, printmaker & further education lecturer based in Preston, Lancashire. I graduated Leeds Arts University in 2021 with a First Class BA (Hons) Illustration degree, going on to complete my Post-14 PGCE in 2022.

I enjoy illustrating my connections to the spaces around me in areas which are often overlooked, celebrating their cultural & historical heritage in the process. I enjoy long form research projects which allow me to spend lots of time in the environment I’m illustrating, and a lot of my work revolves around reflecting upon what is left of the industrial revolution.

I have been making zines since 2018 and began distributing them in 2020. In July 2021 I launched Bite Back Distro, a zine & print distro focused on the distribution of illustrated printed matter. Bite Back Distro aimed to provide an accessible selling platform for illustrators & artists who might otherwise find it difficult to sell their work, whether that be because of expensive printing & packaging costs or a small following on social media. Bite Back Distro closed in January 2023, but its ethos continues to be reflected in my personal illustration practice.
